HOW TO - Family Photo Galleries

Most people I work with want to display their family photos in a meaningful way. We all have photos stored on our devices and rarely get to enjoy them.

It is a great idea to start a gallery on a spare piece of wall in your home. It could be a hallway, a stairwell or just a wall in your living room.

The idea is to find a way to make the collection hang together. The simplest way to start is to buy a set of frames that are all the same, for example all white frames or all black frames. Freedom have a collection priced approximately $80 for around 10 frames of different sizes. Print off some of your favourite photos using good quality photo paper in black and white.

Carefully select which photo should go in which frame. Experiment with close ups. You will soon get the hang of the photo editing program you choose. A good one to start with is Faststone Image Viewer which you can download from the internet.

Once the frames are filled arrange them on the floor in a pleasing pattern. The pattern can be formal or informal. Then attach them to the wall using Command Picture Hanging Strips.
